Music. Day and Night Concerts with $5.00 tickets for the public will
showcase the best of that musical genre. The BGMC will donate a percentage

Smoke on the Mountain Back at Imax: The
popular musical comedy based on a Baptist pastor in the 1930s (where audiences
become the "congregation") is celebrating it's 11th Branson season with a
return to the Little Opry Theatre at Branson's Imax Entertainment Complex. Smoke on the Mountain
is described as musical theater that incorporates old
gospel tunes and comedy meant to take place in a church. Smoke on the
Mountain was originally produced by the McCarter Theatre Company in
Princeton, N.J. and a has enjoyed success at numerous theaters across the
country. Set in 1938 in a small town, Smoke on the Mountain
depicts the Saturday night visits of the gospel-singing Sanders family to a
Baptist church whose minister, Mervin Oglethorpe, had decided to bring his flock
into the modern world. “The characters are people we all know and the songs are
ones we’ll joyfully recognize,” says director Angela O’Brie.
She described the
show as incredibly funny and energetic, inspirational and moving.
“It has been
performed in many places, but I came here to produce it because I believe
Branson is its artistic and spiritual home,” she said. Performances will be
Tuesday-Friday at 10 a.m. For more information or tickets, call (417) 337-7771. ,

Hee Haw Star Now in Branson Singer and star of TV's comedy
classic Hee-Haw, Lulu Roman, is now in Branson as part of the New Jim Bakker TV Show. The
gospel-recording star is working on a new gospel
album, and recording what is probably the last unrecorded song written by her
close friend Dottie Rambo before the gospel song-writing legend's death last
year. It's heady times for the one time comic and present gospel singer. During the past year she has lost over 200 pounds and says she has "never felt
better." When asked about her gospel singing career she says, "I want to
do this for another 30 years. I love to sing about Jesus! ", Roman was
born with a thyroid condition in a home for unwed mothers and grew up in an
orphanage. Her weight problem caused her great pain, preventing her
adoption and subjecting her to endless teasing from the other children. During her Hee-Haw years she battled a drug problem but in 1971 found a new life
in Jesus Christ. In 1999 she was inducted into the Country Gospel Music
Hall of Fame.
